In this episode of our family travel vlog, we take the kids to Halong Bay Vietnam as well as Trang An Vietnam. Halong Bay is typically on most tourists lists when visiting Vietnam, and for good reason, the entire family really loved it and the kids loved all the activities available to them. We also spent a day in Trang An and between the caves, biking, and beautiful temple, it was a hit with the family.

Our first stop was Trang An which was sold as a package to us with our Sa Pa tour, which if you haven’t seen yet, check it out here – https://youtu.be/xT4_wDwE4ic . We weren’t sure if we really wanted to do it, or spend the money, but he mentioned how the latest King Kong had been filmed there, which we thought most the landscapes where just CGI so we were intrigued.

They picked us up from our hotel in the morning and after about an hour drive we got to the first temple, we’re totally not going to be helpful as we can’t even remember the name of it. We need to start doing these videos in a more timely manner, not a month and a half later…oops. Anyway, the temple was really pretty, built into a mountainside overlooking a lake filled with koi.

Afterward, we headed to lunch and then on to Trang An where we took a boat ride on a beautiful river that went through numerous caves while meandering through an amazing valley with steep limestone mountains.

We wrapped up the day with a bike ride to another few temples and then headed home to Hanoi.

We also went on a Halong Bay cruise. After leaving on the cheap for so long, we splurged a bit here and of course…it was really nice. We were picked up in this posh van that took us on about a two-hour drive to Halong Bay. From there we took a small transfer boat that took us out to our main boat.

The boat was awesome. The rooms were so nice, compared to what we’d been in, and the staff was amazing. After a quick lunch, we went on a caving excursion, which was a total blast, after which we headed back to the boat to watch the sunset. After the sunset, the girls took a cooking class which they kicked butt at. This wasn’t their first rodeo. See Bangkok Cooking Class Here – https://youtu.be/b0ZS-9WdiIk . We also went out to do a bit of stargazing before heading to bed.

The next morning, after enjoying a delicious breakfast, we headed out to do some kayaking in one of the coves. The bigger girls took their own kayak and had the best time. Once we wrapped up with kayaking, it was time to head back, take a quick bath(girls had to take a bath on a boat), and then head back to Hanoi.

Check back soon for the final video of Hanoi and then we are on to Chiang Mai!
