I swear I almost lost a kid on this last adventure. After doing some island hopping (last family travel vlog) we went out to explore caves, monkey beach, snorkeling, and a climb to a viewpoint. Thankfully, after getting in a bit over our head, we were able to return to our hotel safely!

The beaches were fantastic, but we knew there were other adventures to be found in the area and our boat driver, Wan, had a couple places left on his list to take us, including the Phi Phi islands which includes the famous monkey beach. Phi Phil island is about 90 minutes by long tail boat from Ao Nang beach and is one of the top places to go to near Krabi with family. It had a nice little pedestrian area and lots of little streets. Glad we visited, but I prefer the area we are staying as I think it has more family activities and maybe a bit of a better fit for the kids.

After watching other tourists completely disregard the rules, and have a few monkeys attack him at once…oh how I wish I had it on video. I’d say I feel sorry for him, but he really did bring it on himself after attacking a monkey after it was digging through his plastic bag filled with food (even though there are signs everywhere saying no food…and no plastic bags). We decided to head over to Mosquito Island, which was fantastic as we had the entire place to ourselves.

We hit a few more beaches, but they were overrun with tourists, but we made the best of them as we knew this was our last day with Wan.

The next day it rained all day. It gave us a chance to catch up on our homeschooling (world schooling?). We couldn’t really complain as the weather was perfect when we were out with Wan day after day.

The next day things cleared up and we had a chance to go back to Railay Beach and explore the area a bit more. The entire area is covered with small caves and there was one that was quite a bit larger and a fun place to explore.

After getting through the caves, we went to the other end of the beach where we found what was a slight rock wall to a lookout. Nothing said exactly how much exposure we should expect as we went up or the fact that it JUST KEPT GOING. But, fortunately, we were able to get up and down safely. I normally don’t get that scared doing things like this, but, with the kids, everything changed…

Oh well, part of the fun of travel, Singapore is next!
